Julius Werner 76dab5f98f cbfstool: Add support for platform "fixups" when modifying bootblock
To support the new CONFIG_CBFS_VERIFICATION feature, cbfstool needs to
update the metadata hash embedded in the bootblock code every time it
adds or removes a CBFS file. This can lead to problems on certain
platforms where the bootblock needs to be specially wrapped in some
platform-specific data structure so that the platform's masked ROM can
recognize it. If that data structure contains any form of hash or
signature of the bootblock code that is checked on every boot, it will
no longer match if cbfstool modifies it after the fact.

In general, we should always try to disable these kinds of features
where possible (they're not super useful anyway). But for platforms
where the hardware simply doesn't allow that, this patch introduces the
concept of "platform fixups" to cbfstool. Whenever cbfstool finds a
metadata hash anchor in a CBFS image, it will run all built-in "fixup
probe" functions on that bootblock to check if it can recognize it as
the wrapper format for a platform known to have such an issue. If so, it
will register a corresponding fixup function that will run whenever it
tries to write back modified data to that bootblock. The function can
then modify any platform-specific headers as necessary.

As first supported platform, this patch adds a fixup for Qualcomm
platforms (specifically the header format used by sc7180), which
recalculates the bootblock body hash originally added by
util/qualcomm/createxbl.py.

(Note that this feature is not intended to support platform-specific
signature schemes like BootGuard directly in cbfstool. For anything that
requires an actual secret key, it should be okay if the user needs to
run a platform-specific signing tool on the final CBFS image before
flashing. This feature is intended for the normal unsigned case (which
on some platforms may be implemented as signing with a well-known key)
so that on a board that is not "locked down" in any way the normal use
case of manipulating an image with cbfstool and then directly flashing
the output file stays working with CONFIG_CBFS_VERIFICATION.)

Julius Werner 4bfbabdb54 cbfstool: Support CONFIG_CBFS_VERIFICATION and metadata hash anchor
This patch adds support for the new CONFIG_CBFS_VERIFICATION feature to
cbfstool. When CBFS verification is enabled, cbfstool must automatically
add a hash attribute to every CBFS file it adds (with a handful of
exceptions like bootblock and "header" pseudofiles that are never read
by coreboot code itself). It must also automatically update the metadata
hash that is embedded in the bootblock code. It will automatically find
the metadata hash by scanning the bootblock for its magic number and use
its presence to auto-detect whether CBFS verification is enabled for an
image (and which hash algorithm to use).

Julius Werner 5779ca718c cbfstool: Replace FILENAME_ALIGN 16 with ATTRIBUTE_ALIGN 4
cbfstool has always had a CBFS_FILENAME_ALIGN that forces the filename
field to be aligned upwards to the next 16-byte boundary. This was
presumably done to align the file contents (which used to come
immediately after the filename field).

However, this hasn't really worked right ever since we introduced CBFS
attributes. Attributes come between the filename and the contents, so
what this code currently does is fill up the filename field with extra
NUL-bytes to the boundary, and then just put the attributes behind it
with whatever size they may be. The file contents don't end up with any
alignment guarantee and the filename field is just wasting space.

This patch removes the old FILENAME_ALIGN, and instead adds a new
alignment of 4 for the attributes. 4 seems like a reasonable alignment
to enforce since all existing attributes (with the exception of weird
edge cases with the padding attribute) already use sizes divisible by 4
anyway, and the common attribute header fields have a natural alignment
of 4. This means file contents will also have a minimum alignment
guarantee of 4 -- files requiring a larger guarantee can still be added
with the --alignment flag as usual.

Julius Werner f0cc7adb2f cbfstool: Ensure attributes always come last in the metadata
In a rare placement edge case when adding a file with alignment
requirements, cbfstool may need to generate a CBFS header that's
slightly larger than it needs to be. The way we do this is by just
increasing the data offset field in the CBFS header until the data falls
to the desired value.

This approach works but it may confuse parsing code in the presence of
CBFS attributes. Normally, the whole area between the attribute offset
and the data offset is filled with valid attributes written back to
back, but when this header expansion occurs the attributes are followed
by some garbage data (usually 0xff). Parsers are resilient against this
but may show unexpected error messages.

This patch solves the problem by moving the attribute offset forwards
together with the data offset, so that the total area used for
attributes doesn't change. Instead, the filename field becomes the
expanded area, which is a closer match to how this worked when it was
originally implemented (before attributes existed) and is less confusing
for parsers since filenames are zero-terminated anyway.

Julius Werner ff61a39e90 cbfstool: Remove location pointer from parse_elf_to_stage()
The *location argument to parse_elf_to_stage() is a relic from code all
the way back to 2009 where this function was still used to parse XIP
stages. Nowadays we have a separate parse_elf_to_xip_stage() for that,
so there is no need to heed XIP concerns here. Having a pointer to
represent the location in flash is absolutely irrelevant to a non-XIP
stage, and it is used incorrectly -- we just get lucky that no code path
in cbfstool can currently lead to that value being anything other than
0, otherwise the adjustment of data_start to be no lower than *location
could easily screw things up. This patch removes it.

Julius Werner 84446e6e54 rmodtool: Make memlayout symbols absolute and do not relocate them
Memlayout is a mechanism to define memory areas outside the normal
program segment constructed by the linker. Therefore, it generally
doesn't make sense to relocate memlayout symbols when the program is
relocated. They tend to refer to things that are always in one specific
spot, independent of where the program is loaded.

This hasn't really hurt us in the past because the use case we have for
rmodules (ramstage on x86) just happens to not really need to refer to
any memlayout-defined areas at the moment. But that use case may come up
in the future so it's still worth fixing.

This patch declares all memlayout-defined symbols as ABSOLUTE() in the
linker, which is then reflected in the symbol table of the generated
ELF. We can then use that distinction to have rmodtool skip them when
generating the relocation table for an rmodule. (Also rearrange rmodtool
a little to make the primary string table more easily accessible to the
rest of the code, so we can refer to symbol names in debug output.)

A similar problem can come up with userspace unit tests, but we cannot
modify the userspace relocation toolchain (and for unfortunate
historical reasons, it tries to relocate even absolute symbols). We'll
just disable PIC and make those binaries fully static to avoid that
issue.

Use of region_end() wraps around at 4 GiB, if utility is run in
32bit userspace. The build completes with an invalid coreboot.rom,
while one can find error message in stdout or make.log:

E: Host address(ffc002e4) not in any mmap window!

Julius Werner 1153b2ef5c cbfstool: Use flock() when accessing CBFS files
Trying to do multiple operations on the same CBFS image at the same time
likely leads to data corruption. For this reason, add BSD advisory file
locking (flock()) to cbfstool (and ifittool which is using the same file
I/O library), so that only one process will operate on the same file at
the same time and the others will wait in line. This should help resolve
parallel build issues with the INTERMEDIATE target on certain platforms.

Unfortunately, some platforms use the INTERMEDIATE target to do a direct
dd into the CBFS image. This should generally be discouraged and future
platforms should aim to clearly deliminate regions that need to be
written directly by platform scripts with custom FMAP sections, so that
they can be written with `cbfstool write`. For the time being, update
the legacy platforms that do this with explicit calls to the `flock`
utility.

Matt DeVillier 1717231b74 drivers/vpd: Add VPD region to default FMAP when selected
Currently, use of the VPD driver to read VPD tables from flash
requires the use of a custom FMAP with one or more VPD regions.
Extend this funtionality to boards using the default FMAP by
creating a dedicated VPD region when the driver is selected.

Test: build qemu target with CONFIG_VPD selected, verify entry
added to build/fmap.fmd.

Matt DeVillier 8ead1dc875 src/lib: Add Kconfig option for SPD cache in FMAP
Currently, the option to cache DIMM SPD data in an FMAP region
is closely coupled to a single board (google/hatch) and requires
a custom FMAP to utilize.

Loosen this coupling by introducing a Kconfig option which adds
a correctly sized and aligned RW_SPD_CACHE region to the default FMAP.
Add a Kconfig option for the region name, replacing the existing hard-
coded instance in spd_cache.h. Change the inclusion of spd_cache.c to
use this new Kconfig, rather than the board-specific one currently used.
Lastly, have google/hatch select the new Kconfig when appropriate to
ensure no change in current functionality.

Test: build/boot WYVERN google/hatch variant with default FMAP, verify
FMAP contains RW_SPD_CACHE, verify SPD cache used via cbmem log.

Also tested on an out-of-tree Purism board.

Furquan Shaikh 0ae389cb23 util/cbfstool: Add support for mapping extended window for x86 platforms
All x86 platforms until now have memory mapped up to a maximum of
16MiB of SPI flash just below 4G boundary in host address space. For
newer platforms, cbfstool needs to be able to accommodate additional
windows in the host address space for mapping SPI flash size greater
than 16MiB.

This change adds two input parameters to cbfstool ext-win-base and
ext-win-size which a platform can use to provide the details of the
extended window in host address space. The extended window does not
necessarily have to be contiguous with the standard decode window
below 4G. But, it is left upto the platform to ensure that the fmap
sections are defined such that they do not cross the window boundary.

create_mmap_windows() uses the input parameters from the platform for
the extended window and the flash size to determine if extended mmap
window is used. If the entire window in host address space is not
covered by the SPI flash region below the top 16MiB, then mapping is
assumed to be done at the top of the extended window in host space.

Furquan Shaikh 0dcc0662f3 util/cbfstool: Introduce concept of mmap_window
This change adds the concept of mmap_window to describe how the SPI
flash address space is mapped to host address space on x86
platforms. It gets rid of the assumption that the SPI flash address
space is mapped only below the 4G boundary in host space. This is
required in follow up changes to be able to add more decode windows
for the SPI flash into the host address space.

Currently, a single mmap window is added i.e. the default x86 decode
window of maximum 16MiB size living just below the 4G boundary. If the
window is smaller than 16MiB, then it is mapped at the top of the host
window.

TEST=Verified using abuild with timeless option for all coreboot
boards that there is no change in the resultant coreboot.rom file.

Furquan Shaikh 6b6e9b503d util/cbfstool: Treat region offsets differently than absolute addresses
cbfstool overloads baseaddress to represent multiple things:
1. Address in SPI flash space
2. Address in host space (for x86 platforms)
3. Offset from end of region (accepted as negative number)

This was done so that the different functions that use these
addresses/offsets don't need to be aware of what the value represents
and can use the helper functions convert_to_from* to get the required
values.

Thus, even if the user provides a negative value to represent offset
from end of region, it was stored as an unsigned integer. There are
special checks in convert_to_from_top_aligned which guesses if the
value provided is really an offset from the end of region and converts
it to an offset from start of region.

This has worked okay until now for x86 platforms because there is a
single fixed decode window mapping the SPI flash to host address
space. However, going forward new platforms might need to support more
decode windows that are not contiguous in the host space. Thus, it is
important to distinguish between offsets from end of region and
addresses in host/SPI flash space and treat them separately.

As a first step towards supporting this requirement for multiple
decode windows on new platforms, this change handles the negative
offset provided as input in dispatch_command before the requested cbfs
operation is performed.

This change adds baseaddress_input, headeroffset_input and
cbfsoffset_input to struct param and converts them to offsets from
start of region before storing into baseaddress, headeroffset and
cbfsoffset if the inputs are negative.

In follow up changes, cbfstool will be extended to add support
for multiple decode windows.

Julius Werner fdabf3fcd7 cbfs: Add verification for RO CBFS metadata hash
This patch adds the first stage of the new CONFIG_CBFS_VERIFICATION
feature. It's not useful to end-users in this stage so it cannot be
selected in menuconfig (and should not be used other than for
development) yet. With this patch coreboot can verify the metadata hash
of the RO CBFS when it starts booting, but it does not verify individual
files yet. Likewise, verifying RW CBFSes with vboot is not yet
supported.

Verification is bootstrapped from a "metadata hash anchor" structure
that is embedded in the bootblock code and marked by a unique magic
number.  This anchor contains both the CBFS metadata hash and a separate
hash for the FMAP which is required to find the primary CBFS. Both are
verified on first use in the bootblock (and halt the system on failure).

The CONFIG_TOCTOU_SAFETY option is also added for illustrative purposes
to show some paths that need to be different when full protection
against TOCTOU (time-of-check vs. time-of-use) attacks is desired. For
normal verification it is sufficient to check the FMAP and the CBFS
metadata hash only once in the bootblock -- for TOCTOU verification we
do the same, but we need to be extra careful that we do not re-read the
FMAP or any CBFS metadata in later stages. This is mostly achieved by
depending on the CBFS metadata cache and FMAP cache features, but we
allow for one edge case in case the RW CBFS metadata cache overflows
(which may happen during an RW update and could otherwise no longer be
fixed because mcache size is defined by RO code). This code is added to
demonstrate design intent but won't really matter until RW CBFS
verification can be supported.

Julius Werner c4ee28c61d cbfstool: Hide hash printing behind -v and add to parseable output
With the upcoming introduction of CBFS verification, a lot more CBFS
files will have hashes. The current cbfstool default of always printing
hash attributes when they exist will make cbfstool print very messy.
Therefore, hide hash attribute output unless the user passed -v.

It would also be useful to be able to get file attributes like hashes in
machine parseable output. Unfortunately, our machine parseable format
(-k) doesn't really seem designed to be extensible. To avoid breaking
older parsers, this patch adds new attribute output behind -v (which
hopefully no current users pass since it doesn't change anything for -k
at the moment). With this patch cbfstool print -k -v may print an
arbitrary amount of extra tokens behind the predefined ones on a file
line. Tokens always begin with an identifying string (e.g. 'hash'),
followed by extra fields that should be separated by colons. Multiple
tokens are separated by the normal separator character (tab).

cbfstool print -k -v may also print additional information that applies
to the whole CBFS on separate lines. These lines will always begin with
a '[' (which hopefully nobody would use as a CBFS filename character
although we technically have no restrictions at the moment).

Julius Werner 7066a1e7b3 cbfstool: Rename cbfs_walk() to cbfs_legacy_walk()
This function name clashes with cbfs_walk() in the new commonlib CBFS
stack, so rename it to cbfs_legacy_walk(). While we could replace it
with the new commonlib implementation, it still has support for certain
features in the deprecated pre-FMAP CBFSes (such as non-standard header
alignment), which are needed to handle old files but probably not
something we'd want to burden the commonlib implementation with. So
until we decide to deprecate support for those files from cbfstool as
well, it seems easier to just keep the existing implementation here.

Julius Werner d477565dbd cbfstool: Use cbfs_serialized.h and standard vboot helpers
This patch reduces some code duplication in cbfstool by switching it to
use the CBFS data structure definitions in commonlib rather than its own
private copy. In addition, replace a few custom helpers related to hash
algorithms with the official vboot APIs of the same purpose.

Julius Werner 105cdf5625 cbfstool: Don't add compression attribute for uncompressed files
Our current cbfstool has always added a compression attribute to the
CBFS file header for all files that used the cbfstool_convert_raw()
function (basically anything other than a stage or payload), even if the
compression type was NONE. This was likely some sort of oversight, since
coreboot CBFS reading code has always accepted the absence of a
compression attribute to mean "no compression". This patch fixes the
behavior to avoid adding the attribute in these cases.

Patrick Georgi c6dd4435d2 util/cbfstool: Defuse vboot's openssl linking
Vboot determines openssl through pkgconfig, so pointing its build
system to /bin/true makes the build not break unless it needs to use
valid information about openssl.

Vboot's use of openssl is only for some special features, mostly around
PKCS key format parsing and not needed by cbfstool. While cbfstool
can link vboot, it can't link with openssl because openssl's license
is deliberately incompatible with the GPL.

This change drops the check for IS_TOP_ALIGNED_ADDRESS() before
setting offset to 0 in cbfstool_convert_fsp(). If the user provides a
baseaddress to relocate the FSP to, then the offset should be set to 0
since there is no requirement on where the file ends up in cbfs. This
allows the user to relocate the FSP to an address in lower DRAM.

Furquan Shaikh c42cf911ad util/cbfstool: Allow use of non-ASCII longopt
CB:29744 ("util/cbfstool: Add optional argument ibb") added support
for non-ASCII characters for long_options. However, there is a check
later on which errors out since this character is not one of the
commands[i].optstring.

This change adds a function valid_opt() which does the following
things:
1. Checks if the returned optchar is among the list of optstring
supported by the command.
2. Checks if the returned optchar is a valid non-ASCII
option. Currently, we do not maintain a list of non-ASCII options
supported by each command. So, this function returns true if the
optchar returned by getopt_long falls within the allowed range.

Yu-Ping Wu 0beddb5e23 cbfstool: Build vboot library
Currently cbfstool cherry-picks a few files from vboot and hopes these
files will work standalone without any dependencies. This is pretty
brittle (for example, CL:2084062 will break it), and could be improved
by building the whole vboot library and then linking against it.
Therefore, this patch creates a new target $(VBOOT_HOSTLIB) and includes
it as a dependency for cbfstool and ifittool.

To prevent building the vboot lib twice (one for cbfstool and the other
for futility) when building coreboot tools together, add the variable
'VBOOT_BUILD' in Makefile to define a shared build path among different
tools so that vboot files don't need to be recompiled.

Also ignore *.o.d and *.a for vboot library.

Alex Rebert 70282aece0 lz4: Fix out-of-bounds reads
Fix two out-of-bounds reads in lz4 decompression:

1) LZ4_decompress_generic could read one byte past the input buffer when
decoding variable length literals due to a missing bounds check. This
issue was resolved in libpayload, commonlib and cbfstool

2) ulz4fn could read up to 4 bytes past the input buffer when reading a

Patrick Georgi a58e503442 util/cbfstool/lzma: Make clang-11+'s indentation checker happy
Newest clang compilers warn about "misleading indentation", and because
warnings-are-errors in our builds, that breaks the build.

The lzma code base is vendored in, so we might just have to update it,
but that's a bigger effort than just removing a couple of spaces (the
coding style of the file is horrible, but I will only change it as much
as the compilers ask for).

Julius Werner d6900a96e0 cbfstool: Set deprecated _BSD_SOURCE and _SVID_SOURCE macros
In glibc feature control macros, _DEFAULT_SOURCE is the shorthand to
tell glibc to enable "all the default stuff", meaning POSIX, BSD and
System V interfaces. However, this macro is somewhat recent and older
glibc versions (e.g. 2.12) are still occasionally in use that don't
recognize it yet. For the benefits of users with these versions, let's
also enable the deprecated _BSD_SOURCE and _SVID_SOURCE macros which
essentially achieve the same thing. We must continue to define
_DEFAULT_SOURCE so that newer glibc versions don't throw a deprecation
warning.

This patch should make BSD-style byteswap macros like le32toh()
available on these older glibc versions.

Julius Werner 98eeb96135 commonlib: Add commonlib/bsd
This patch creates a new commonlib/bsd subdirectory with a similar
purpose to the existing commonlib, with the difference that all files
under this subdirectory shall be licensed under the BSD-3-Clause license
(or compatible permissive license). The goal is to allow more code to be
shared with libpayload in the future.

Initially, I'm going to move a few files there that have already been
BSD-licensed in the existing commonlib. I am also exracting most
contents of the often-needed <commonlib/helpers.h> as long as they have
either been written by me (and are hereby relicensed) or have an
existing equivalent in BSD-licensed libpayload code. I am also
relicensing <commonlib/compression.h> (written by me) and
<commonlib/compiler.h> (same stuff exists in libpayload).

Finally, I am extracting the cb_err error code definitions from
<types.h> into a new BSD-licensed header so that future commonlib/bsd
code can build upon a common set of error values. I am making the
assumption here that the enum constants and the half-sentence fragments
of documentation next to them by themselves do not meet the threshold of
copyrightability.

Julius Werner 3833f0ffdb cbfstool: Bump C version to C11
cbfstool depends on vboot headers, and vboot expects to be able to use
modern C features like _Static_assert(). It just so happens that it
doesn't do that in any headers included from cbfstool right now, but
that may change. Let's switch cbfstool to a newer version to prevent
that from becoming a problem.

Julius Werner f96d9051c2 Remove MIPS architecture
The MIPS architecture port has been added 5+ years ago in order to
support a Chrome OS project that ended up going nowhere. No other board
has used it since and nobody is still willing or has the expertise and
hardware to maintain it. We have decided that it has become too much of
a mainenance burden and the chance of anyone ever reviving it seems too
slim at this point. This patch eliminates all MIPS code and
MIPS-specific hacks.

Julius Werner cefe89ee79 lib/fmap: Add optional pre-RAM cache
This patch adds an optional pre-RAM cache for the FMAP which most
platforms should be able to use, complementing the recently added
post-RAM FMAP cache in CBMEM. vboot systems currently read the FMAP
about half a dozen times from flash in verstage, which will all be
coalesced into a single read with this patch. It will also help
future vboot improvements since when FMAP reads become "free" vboot
doesn't need to keep track of so much information separately.

In order to make sure we have a single, well-defined point where the new
cache is first initialized, eliminate the build-time hardcoding of the
CBFS section offsets, so that all CBFS accesses explicitly read the
FMAP.

Add FMAP_CACHEs to all platforms that can afford it (other than the
RISC-V things where I have no idea how they work), trying to take the
space from things that look like they were oversized anyway (pre-RAM
consoles and CBFS caches).

Jacob Garber 2d58bf6a03 util/cbfstool: Prevent overflow of 16 bit multiplications
Considering the following integer multiplication:

    u64 = u16 * u16

What on earth, one might wonder, is the problem with this? Well, due to
C's unfortunately abstruse integer semantics, both u16's are implicitly
converted to int before the multiplication, which cannot hold
all possible values of a u16 * u16. Even worse, after overflow the
intermediate result will be a negative number, which during the
conversion to a u64 will be sign-extended to a huge integer. Not good.

The solution is to manually cast one of the u16 to a u32 or u64, which
are large enough to not have any overflow and will prevent the implicit
conversion. The type of the u64 is preferred, though a u32 is used
instead of size_t, since that can change depending on the platform.

Marshall Dawson 30cf155168 util/cbfstool: Add AMD BIOS compression tool for PSP
Add a utility to generate a compressed BIOS image for AMD Family 17h.

If the input is an elf file, the utility extracts the program portion
for compression.  Otherwise the file is compressed as-is.

In modern AMD systems, the PSP brings up DRAM then uncompresses the
BIOS image into memory prior to x86 beginning execution.  The PSP
supports a zlib engine, and interprets the first 256 bytes as a
header, where offset 0x14 containing the uncompressed size.  For
further details, see AMD Platform Security Processor BIOS Architecture
Design Guide for AMD Family 17h Processors (NDA only, #55758).

Patrick Georgi 848e30daa1 cbfstool: show "preserved" flag in cbfstool layout output
The flag is useful for updaters to determine which areas to leave
alone, such as VPD (vital product data) regions that are set in
factory and might contain unique (MAC addresses) or hard to obtain
(calibration output) data.

It's also useful to see which regions are marked as such.

* Delete entries
* Add support for types other than 1
* Add support to dump current table
* Add support for top-swap
* Sort entries by type

Most code is reused from existing cbfstool and functionality of cbfstool
is kept. It will be removed once the make system uses only ifittool.

Hung-Te Lin 49a4450563 cbfstool: Support new FMD flag "PRESERVE"
When updating firmware, it is very often that we may want to preserve
few sections, for example vital product data (VPD) including serial
number, calibration data and cache. A firmware updater has to hard-code
the section names that need to be preserved and is hard to maintain.

A better approach is to specify that in FMAP area flags (the `area_flag`
field) using FMAP_AREA_PRESERVE. With this patchset, a FMD parser flag
"PRESERVE" is introduced and will be converted to FMAP_AREA_PRESERVE
when generating FMAP data (by fmap_from_fmd.c).

For example, The FMD statement:

  RO_VPD(PRESERVE)@0x0 16k

will generate an FMAP firmware section that:

  area_name = "RO_VPD"
  area_offset = 0
  area_size = 16384
  area_flags = FMAP_AREA_PRESERVE

Hung-Te Lin 9497fcb742 cbfstool: Change FMD annotation to flags
The idea of "annotation" for firmware sections was pretty flexible, but
in future we will want multiple attributes applied to same area. For
example, indicate the section must be preserved when updating firmware
so serial number or MAC address can be preserved.

The solution here is to extend annotation so it can take multiple
identifiers (flags) in a row. For example, to declare a 64KB COREBOOT
section as CBFS using annotation:

 COREBOOT(CBFS)@0x0 64k

If there's a new flag "PRESERVE" indicating the section must be
preserved before update, we can declare it following CBFS flag:

 COREBOOT(CBFS PRESERVE)@0x0 64k

The flags are directly parsed in fmd_parser, and stored in an union
flashmap_flags. Output modules can choose to ignore or process the
flags.

Currently the only supported flag is "CBFS" (for backward compatible
with annotation). There will be more new flags in follow up patches.

Hung-Te Lin 4708612061 fmap: Add FMAP_AREA_PRESERVE
When updating firmware, we may need to preserve some sections like VPD,
calibration data, ... etc. The logic can be hard-coded in updater as a
list of known names, but a better solution is to have that directly
declared inside FMAP area flags.

To do that, the first step is to apply the changes in flash map
(http://crosreview.com/1493767). A new FMAP_AREA_PRESERVE is now
defined and will be set in future with new syntax in FMD parser.

Arthur Heymans 0b75679cbb Makefile.inc: Optimize generating the default x86 fmap
Put the FMAP FMAP region right above the coreboot CBFS region.
The other regions like RW_MRC_CACHE and CONSOLE often have alignment
requirements so it makes sense to put those on top. This also
simplifies the code the generate the default fmap a little.

Werner Zeh bbf1df76a6 util/cbfstool: Fix GCC error due to a shadowed declaration
There is already a function with the name buffer_size(). Adding a local
variable with the same name will lead to the following error on older

Richard Spiegel b59c1f4345 util/cbfstool/cbfs_image.c: Get rid of void pointer math
Pointer math with void pointers is illegal in many compilers, though it
works with GCC because it assumes size of void to be 1. Change the pointers
or add parenthesis to force a proper order that will not cause compile
errors if compiled with a different compiler, and more importantly, don't
have unsuspected side effects.

Nico Huber d44221f9c8 Move compiler.h to commonlib
Its spreading copies got out of sync. And as it is not a standard header
but used in commonlib code, it belongs into commonlib. While we are at
it, always include it via GCC's `-include` switch.

Some Windows and BSD quirk handling went into the util copies. We always
guard from redefinitions now to prevent further issues.

When extracting a payload from CBFS, ignore compression fields for
these types of payload segments:
  - PAYLOAD_SEGMENT_ENTRY
  - PAYLOAD_SEGMENT_BSS
  - PAYLOAD_SEGMENT_PARAMS

These types of payload segments cannot be compressed, and in certain
cases are being erroneously labeled as compressed, causing errors
when extracting the payload.

For an example of this problem, see creation of PAYLOAD_SEGMENT_ENTRY
segments in cbfs-mkpayload.c, where the only field that is written to
is |load_addr|.

Also, add a linebreak to an ERROR line.

Some types of payload segment headers do not use all fields.
If these unused fields are not initialized to 0, they can
cause problems in other software which consumes payloads.

the 'cbfstool extract' command fails.

Ronald G. Minnich eeb83b6b53 linux_trampoline: use trampoline RAM for the GDT
The linux trampoline was modifying the existing GDT
to add the 0x10 and 0x18 descriptors for Linux.
This will not work when the existing GDT is in ROM.

Change the code to set up a new GDT in what we know to be
RAM.

Tested by booting a linux payload. The main reason this works
is that Linux almost immediately loads its own GDT and then
segment registers. This GDT is a very temporary bridge.

Note that none of this change used to be necessary; the coreboot
GDT was originally compatible with Linux (ca 2000);
then Linux changed.

commit c1072f2 [cbfstool: Update FIT entries in the second bootblock]
incorrectly changed the value of type_checksum_valid for microcode
entries from FIT_TYPE_MICROCODE to 0, breaking microcode loading on
Skylake/FSP1.1 devices (and others?).  Correct this by reverting to the
previous value.

Test: build/boot google/chell, observe FspTempRamInit no longer fails,
device boots as expected.

Rizwan Qureshi 1dc188fad0 cbfstool: add an option for creating a topswap bootblock
Add an option '-j' which takes the size of topswap boundary.
This option serves both as a bool and a size for creating
a second bootblock to be used with topswap feature in Intel CPUs.
'-j' is also used in conjunction with add-master-header to

Werner Zeh a7835c462e cbfstool: Use endian.h and functions from commonlib
The endian conversion function be32toh() is defined in
src/include/endian.h, however this file is not used for cbfstool
compilation. Currently the one provided by the host is used and if the
host does not provide this endian.h file, the build will fail.
However, we do have endian conversion functions in commonlib/endian.h
which is available for cbfstool compilation.

Switch from be32toh() to read_be32() in order to avoid relying on a
host provided include file.
We use functions from commonlib/endian.h already in cbfstool.

Patrick Rudolph 7ee05eddf1 util/cbfstool: Support FIT payloads
In order to support booting a GNU/Linux payload on non x86, the FIT format
should be used, as it is the defacto standard on ARM.
Due to greater complexity of FIT it is not converted to simple ELF format.

Add support for autodecting FIT payloads and add them as new CBFS_TYPE 'fit'.
The payload is included as is, with no special header.
The code can determine the type at runtime using the CBFS_TYPE field.
Support for parsing FIT payloads in coreboot is added in a follow on
commit.
Compression of FIT payloads is not supported, as the FIT sections might be
compressed itself.

Starting at this point a CBFS payload/ can be either of type FIT or SELF.

Tested on Cavium SoC.

This patch adds a new "rawcompress" command to cbfs-compression-tool,
that works exactly the same as "compress" except that it doesn't add the
custom 8-byte header to the file. This can be useful if you need to
compress something into a format that coreboot's decompression routines
can work with, but it's not supposed to go into CBFS.

Julius Werner ee87885343 cbfs-compression-tool: Fix minor edge cases in algorithm type parsing
This patch adds two minor improvements to the way cbfs-compression-tool
parses the compression algorithm type that is passed through the -t
option of the 'compress' subcommand. These improvements are intended
to prevent accidents and unexpected behavior when using the
cbfs-compression-tool, in particular in automated contexts such as a
Makefile rule.

In the first part of this patch, a return statement is inserted after
the 'if (algo->name == NULL)' check of the compress() function. This
causes the function to exit immediately and subsequently abort the
program when the algorithm type was not detected correctly. Previously,
execution would continue with the 'algo' pointer pointing to the zeroed
out stopper entry of the types_cbfs_compression[] array. The ultimate
effect of this would be to pass 0 as 'algo->type' to the
compression_function() function, which happens to be the same
enumeration value as is used for CBFS_COMPRESS_NONE, leading to a valid
compression function result that matches the behavior of no compression.
Thus, if a script calling cbfs-compression-tool compress contained a
typo in the -t parameter, it would continue running with an unintended
compression result rather than immediately exiting cleanly.

In the second part of this patch, the strcmp() function is replaced with
strcasecmp() when comparing 'algo->name' with the 'algoname' parameter
that was passed to the compress() function. strcasecmp() uses an
identical function signature as strcmp() and is thus suitable as a
drop-in replacement, but it differs in behavior: rather than only
returning a result of 0 when the two NULL-terminated input strings are
character by character identical, the strcasecmp() function applies a
weaker concept of identity where characters of the latin alphabet
(hexadecimal ranges 0x41 through 0x5a and 0x61 through 0x7a) are also
considered identical to other characters that differ from them only in
their case. This causes the -t parameter of cbfs-compression-tool
compress to also accept lowercase spellings of the available compression
algorithms, such as "lz4" instead of "LZ4" and "lzma" instead of "LZMA".
As an unintended but harmless side-effect, mixed-case spellings such as
"lZ4" or "LZmA" will also be recognized as valid compression algorithms.
(Note that since the character "4" (hexadecimal 0x34) of the "LZ4"
compression type name is not part of the above-mentioned ranges of latin
alphabet characters, no new substitutions become valid for that part of
the "LZ4" string with this patch.)

Currently, "cbfstool -h | less" doesn't show any file types under
"TYPEs:". That's because the file types are printed with
print_supported_filetypes, which uses LOG, which prints to stderr.  Use
printf print_supported_filetypes, and thus print to stdout, to make the
usage output more normal.

Arthur Heymans 82aa8338c7 drivers/mrc_cache: Always generate an FMAP region
This automatically generates an FMAP region for the MRC_CACHE driver
which is easier to handle than a cbfsfile.

Adds some spaces and more comments to Makefile.inc to improve
readability.

The initial lookup for cbfs location for xip stages is implicitly
using the ELF size assuming it's relatively equivalent. However,
if the ELF that is being converted contains debug information or
other metadata then the location lookup can fail because the ELF is
considerably bigger than the real footprint.

Patrick Georgi 5d982d72be util/cbfstool: Add "expand" command to make CBFS span an fmap region
vboot images come with multiple regions carrying CBFS file systems. To
expedite hashing (from slow flash memory), the FW_MAIN_* regions are
truncated since they typically have pretty large unused space at the
end that is of no interest.
For test purposes it can be useful to re-engage that space, so add a
command that creates a new empty file entry covering that area (except
for the last 4 bytes for the master header pointer, as usual).

Damien Zammit 0025247171 rmodtool: Increase limit on number of symbols
An internal index `i` was previously allocated as
Elf64_Half which is uint16_t.  Bumping to uint64_t
increases the number of allowed symbols and prevents
a segfault in processing a larger ramstage.debug file.
Also introduce a separate counter for the number of sections.

Patrick Georgi d42eb37be4 util/cbfstool: Fix build with armv7-eabi cross compiler
We recently changed all PACKED, __PACKED, __attribute__((packed)) ... to
__packed to gain some consistency. In cbfstool we use compiler.h to
provide that where necessary.

The cross compiler I use doesn't provide __packed by itself, but liblz4
doesn't compensate for that. Therefore include compiler.h, and to avoid
adding dependencies to non-liblz4 code, do so through the command line.

messages to the 'CONSOLE' area in FMAP which allows us to grab the
log when we read the flash.

This is useful when you don't have usb debugging, and
UART lines are hard to find. Since a failure to boot would
require a hardware flasher anyways, we can get the log
at the same time.

This feature should only be used when no alternative is
found and only when we can't boot the system, because
excessive writes to the flash is not recommended.

This has been tested on purism/librem13 v2 and librem 15 v3 which
run Intel Skylake hardware. It has not been tested on other archs
or with a driver other than the fast_spi.

Nico Huber 607796a4ff cbfstool: Don't use le32toh(), it's non-standard
It's a BSD function, also, we missed to include `endian.h`.

Just including `endian.h` doesn't fix the problem for everyone.
Instead of digging deeper, just use our own endian-conversion from
`commonlib`.

Patrick Georgi ecaa570b60 util/cbfstool: Enable adding precompressed files to cbfs
cbfstool ... add ... -c precompression assumes the input file to be
created by cbfs-compression-tool's compress command and uses that to add
the file with correct metadata.

When adding the locale_*.bin files to Chrome OS images, this provides a
nice speedup (since we can parallelize the precompression and avoid
compressing everything twice) while creating a bit-identical file.

Patrick Georgi c88d16baaf util/cbfstool: Add cbfs-compression-tool
cbfs-compression-tool provides a way to benchmark the compression
algorithms as used by cbfstool (and coreboot) and allows to
pre-compress data for later consumption by cbfstool (once it supports
the format).

For an impression, the benchmark's results on my machine:

measuring 'none'
compressing 10485760 bytes to 10485760 took 0 seconds
measuring 'LZMA'
compressing 10485760 bytes to 1736 took 2 seconds
measuring 'LZ4'
compressing 10485760 bytes to 41880 took 0 seconds

And a possible use for external compression, parallel and non-parallel
(60MB in 53 files compressed to 650KB on a machine with 40 threads):

$ time (ls -1 *.* |xargs -n 1 -P $(nproc) -I '{}' cbfs-compression-tool compress '{}' out/'{}' LZMA)

real	0m0.786s
user	0m11.440s
sys	0m0.044s
