493937e1d6 coreboot tables: Add SPI flash memory map windows to coreboot tables
This change adds details about the memory map windows to translate
addresses between SPI flash space and host address space to coreboot
tables. This is useful for payloads to setup the translation using the
decode windows already known to coreboot. Until now, there was a
single decode window at the top of 4G used by all x86
platforms. However, going forward, platforms might support more decode
windows and hence in order to avoid duplication in payloads this
information is filled in coreboot tables.

`lb_spi_flash()` is updated to fill in the details about these windows
by making a call to `spi_flash_get_mmap_windows()` which is
implemented by the driver providing the boot media mapping device.

f5b30eda1f commonlib/region: Allow multiple windows for xlate_region_dev
This change updates the translated region device (xlate_region_dev) to
support multiple translation windows from the 1st address space to
2nd address space. The address spaces described by the translation
windows can be non-contiguous in both spaces. This is required so that
newer x86 platforms can describe memory mapping of SPI flash into
multiple decode windows in order to support greater than 16MiB of
memory mapped space.

Since the windows can be non-contiguous, it introduces new
restrictions on the region device ops - any operation performed on the
translated region device is limited to only 1 window at a time. This
restriction is primarily because of the mmap operation. The caller
expects that the memory mapped space is contiguous, however, that is
not true anymore. Thus, even though the other operations (readat,
writeat, eraseat) can be updated to translate into multiple operations
one for each access device, all operations across multiple windows are
prohibited for the sake of consistency.

It is the responsibility of the platform to ensure that any section
that is operated on using the translated region device does not span
multiple windows in the fmap description.

One additional difference in behavior is xlate_region_device does not
perform any action in munmap call. This is because it does not keep
track of the access device that was used to service the mmap
request. Currently, xlate_region_device is used only by memory mapped
boot media on the backend. So, not doing unmap is fine. If this needs
to be changed in the future, xlate_region_device will have to accept a
pre-allocated space from the caller to keep track of all mapping
requests.

20f5dcec63 cbfs: mcache: Fix end-of-cache check
After the mcache is copied into CBMEM, it has *just* the right size to
fit the final tag with no room to spare. That means the test to check if
we walked over the end must be `current + sizeof(tag) <= end`, not
`current + sizeof(tag) < end`.

fdabf3fcd7 cbfs: Add verification for RO CBFS metadata hash
This patch adds the first stage of the new CONFIG_CBFS_VERIFICATION
feature. It's not useful to end-users in this stage so it cannot be
selected in menuconfig (and should not be used other than for
development) yet. With this patch coreboot can verify the metadata hash
of the RO CBFS when it starts booting, but it does not verify individual
files yet. Likewise, verifying RW CBFSes with vboot is not yet
supported.

Verification is bootstrapped from a "metadata hash anchor" structure
that is embedded in the bootblock code and marked by a unique magic
number. This anchor contains both the CBFS metadata hash and a separate
hash for the FMAP which is required to find the primary CBFS. Both are
verified on first use in the bootblock (and halt the system on failure).

The CONFIG_TOCTOU_SAFETY option is also added for illustrative purposes
to show some paths that need to be different when full protection
against TOCTOU (time-of-check vs. time-of-use) attacks is desired. For
normal verification it is sufficient to check the FMAP and the CBFS
metadata hash only once in the bootblock -- for TOCTOU verification we
do the same, but we need to be extra careful that we do not re-read the
FMAP or any CBFS metadata in later stages. This is mostly achieved by
depending on the CBFS metadata cache and FMAP cache features, but we
allow for one edge case in case the RW CBFS metadata cache overflows
(which may happen during an RW update and could otherwise no longer be
fixed because mcache size is defined by RO code). This code is added to
demonstrate design intent but won't really matter until RW CBFS
verification can be supported.

1e37c9ca46 cbfs: Add metadata cache
This patch adds a new CBFS "mcache" (metadata cache) -- a memory buffer
that stores the headers of all CBFS files. Similar to the existing FMAP
cache, this cache should reduce the amount of SPI accesses we need to do
every boot: rather than having to re-read all CBFS headers from SPI
flash every time we're looking for a file, we can just walk the same
list in this in-memory copy and finally use it to directly access the
flash at the right position for the file data.

This patch adds the code to support the cache but doesn't enable it on
any platform. The next one will turn it on by default.

e1a7a26f5e lib/libpayload: Replace strapping_ids with new board configuration entry
There are currently 3 different strapping ID entries in the coreboot
table, which adds overhead. The new fw_config field is also desired in
the coreboot table, which is another kind of strapping id. Therefore,
this patch deprecates the 3 current strapping ID entries (board ID, RAM
code, and SKU ID), and adds a new entry ("board_config") which provides
board ID, RAM code, SKU ID, as well as FW_CONFIG together.

1cd013bec5 cbfs: Hook up to new CBFS implementation
This patch hooks coreboot up to the new commonlib/bsd CBFS
implementation. This is intended as the "minimum viable patch" that
makes the new implementation useable with the smallest amount of changes
-- that is why some of this may look a bit roundabout (returning the
whole metadata for a file but then just using that to fill out the rdevs
of the existing struct cbfsf). Future changes will migrate the higher
level CBFS APIs one-by-one to use the new implementation directly
(rather than translated into the results of the old one), at which point
this will become more efficient.

0655f78041 commonlib/bsd: Add new CBFS core implementation
This patch adds a new CBFS implementation that is intended to replace
the existing commonlib/cbfs.c. The new implementation is designed to
meet a bunch of current and future goals that in aggregate make it
easier to start from scratch than to adapt the exisiting implementation:

1. Be BSD-licensed so it can evetually be shared with libpayload.
2. Allow generating/verifying a metadata hash for future CBFS per-file
   verification (see [1][2]).
3. Be very careful about reading (not mmaping) all data only once, to be
   suitable for eventual TOCTOU-safe verification.
4. Make it possible to efficiently implement all current and future
firmware use cases (both with and without verification).

The main primitive is the cbfs_walk() function which will traverse a
CBFS and call a callback for every file. cbfs_lookup() uses this to
implement the most common use case of finding a file so that it can be
read. A host application using this code (e.g. coreboot, libpayload,
cbfstool) will need to provide a <cbfs_glue.h> header to provide the
glue to access the respective CBFS storage backend implementation.

This patch merely adds the code, the next patch will integrate it into
coreboot.

bc744f5893 drivers/smmstore: Implement SMMSTORE version 2
SMMSTORE version 2 is a complete redesign of the current driver. It is
not backwards-compatible with version 1, and only one version can be
used at a time.

Key features:
* Uses a fixed communication buffer instead of writing to arbitrary
memory addresses provided by untrusted ring0 code.
* Gives the caller full control over the used data format.
* Splits the store into smaller chunks to allow fault tolerant updates.
* Doesn't provide feedback about the actual read/written bytes, just
returns error or success in registers.
* Returns an error if the requested operation would overflow the
  communication buffer.

Separate the SMMSTORE into 64 KiB blocks that can individually be
read/written/erased. To be used by payloads that implement a
FaultTolerant Variable store like TianoCore.

The implementation has been tested against EDK2 master.

An example EDK2 implementation can be found here:

21a4053fde rules.h: Rename ENV_VERSTAGE to ENV_SEPARATE_VERSTAGE
When CONFIG_SEPARATE_VERSTAGE=n, all verstage code gets linked into the
appropriate calling stage (bootblock or romstage). This means that
ENV_VERSTAGE is actually 0, and instead ENV_BOOTBLOCK or ENV_ROMSTAGE
are 1. This keeps tripping up people who are just trying to write a
simple "are we in verstage (i.e. wherever the vboot init logic runs)"
check, e.g. for TPM init functions which may run in "verstage" or
ramstage depending on whether vboot is enabled. Those checks will not
work as intended for CONFIG_SEPARATE_VERSTAGE=n.

This patch renames ENV_VERSTAGE to ENV_SEPARATE_VERSTAGE to try to
clarify that this macro can really only be used to check whether code is
running in a *separate* verstage, and clue people in that they may need
to cover the linked-in verstage case as well.

- People sometimes have their editor auto-add themselves to files even
  though they only deleted stuff
- Or they let the editor automatically update the copyright year,
  because why not?
- Who is the copyright holder "The coreboot project Authors"?
- Or "Generated Code"?

Sidestep all these issues by simply not putting these notices in
individual files, let's list all copyright holders in AUTHORS instead
and use the git history to deal with the rest.

98eeb96135 commonlib: Add commonlib/bsd
This patch creates a new commonlib/bsd subdirectory with a similar
purpose to the existing commonlib, with the difference that all files
under this subdirectory shall be licensed under the BSD-3-Clause license
(or compatible permissive license). The goal is to allow more code to be
shared with libpayload in the future.

Initially, I'm going to move a few files there that have already been
BSD-licensed in the existing commonlib. I am also exracting most
contents of the often-needed <commonlib/helpers.h> as long as they have
either been written by me (and are hereby relicensed) or have an
existing equivalent in BSD-licensed libpayload code. I am also
relicensing <commonlib/compression.h> (written by me) and
<commonlib/compiler.h> (same stuff exists in libpayload).

Finally, I am extracting the cb_err error code definitions from
<types.h> into a new BSD-licensed header so that future commonlib/bsd
code can build upon a common set of error values. I am making the
assumption here that the enum constants and the half-sentence fragments
of documentation next to them by themselves do not meet the threshold of
copyrightability.

3280b76729 storage/mmc: Fix wrong frequency setting for HS speed mode
Emmc spec, JEDEC Standard No. 84-B51, section 6.6.2.3, selection
flow of HS400 using Enhanced Strobe states that host should change
frequency to ≤ 52MHz when switching to HS speed mode first. In
current code, mmc_select_hs400() calls mmc_select_hs() to do this,
however caps are not cleared, so when switching from HS200 to HS400,
caps will still have DRVR_CAP_HS200, and mmc_recalculate_clock() will
set 200Mhz instead of ≤ 52MHz. As a result, switching to HS400 will
intermittently fail.

540a98001d printf: Automatically prefix %p with 0x
According to the POSIX standard, %p is supposed to print a pointer "as
if by %#x", meaning the "0x" prefix should automatically be prepended.
All other implementations out there (glibc, Linux, even libpayload) do
this, so we should make coreboot match. This patch changes vtxprintf()
accordingly and removes any explicit instances of "0x%p" from existing
format strings.

How to handle zero padding is less clear: the official POSIX definition
above technically says there should be no automatic zero padding, but in
practice most other implementations seem to do it and I assume most
programmers would prefer it. The way chosen here is to always zero-pad
to 32 bits, even on a 64-bit system. The rationale for this is that even
on 64-bit systems, coreboot always avoids using any memory above 4GB for
itself, so in practice all pointers should fit in that range and padding
everything to 64 bits would just hurt readability. Padding it this way
also helps pointers that do exceed 4GB (e.g. prints from MMU config on
some arm64 systems) stand out better from the others.

6d787c2590 lib/fmap: Cache FMAP in cbmem
For platform independend exposure of FMAP through a kernel module
cache the FMAP in CBMEM. In addition add a pointer in coreboot tables
pointing to the introduced CBMEM area.

To not waste the allocated DRAM, use the cached CBMEM in RAM enabled
stages if possible.

Tested on qemu using

region_is_subregion() checks whether the size of the inner region is
larger than the size of the outer region... which isn't really necessary
because we're already checking the starts and ends of both regions.
Maybe this was added to ensure the inner region doesn't overflow? But
it's not guaranteed to catch that in all cases. Replace it with a proper
overflow check.

d371cf3336 Make common macros double-evaluation safe
I just got hit by a double-evaluation bug again, it's time to attempt
to fix this once more. Unfortunately there are several issues that don't
make this easy:

 - bitfield variables don't support typeof()
 - local macro variables that shadow others trigger -Werror=shadow
 - sign warnings with integer literal and unsigned var in typeof-MIN()
 - ({ statement expressions }) can not be used outside functions
 - romcc doesn't support any of the fancy GCC/clang extensions

This patch tries to address all of them as far as possible with macro
magic. We don't have the technology to solve the bitfield and
non-function context issues yet (__builtin_choose_expr() still throws a
"no statement expression outside a function" error if it's only in the
branch that's not chosen, unfortunately), so we'll have to provide
alternative macros for use in those cases (and we'll avoid making
__ALIGN_MASK() double-evaluation safe for now, since it would be
annoying to do that there and having an alignment mask with side
effects seems very unlikely). romcc can continue using unsafe versions
since we're hopefully not writing a lot of new code for it. Sign
warnings can be avoided in literal/variable comparisons by always using
the type of the variable there. Shadowing is avoided by picking very
explicit local variable names and using a special __COUNTER__ solution
for MIN() and MAX() (the only ones of these you're likely to nest).

Also add DIV_ROUND_UP() to libpayload since it's a generally quite
useful thing to have.

When updating firmware, we may need to preserve some sections like VPD,

list of known names, but a better solution is to have that directly
declared inside FMAP area flags.

To do that, the first step is to apply the changes in flash map
(http://crosreview.com/1493767). A new FMAP_AREA_PRESERVE is now
defined and will be set in future with new syntax in FMD parser.

7ee05eddf1 util/cbfstool: Support FIT payloads
In order to support booting a GNU/Linux payload on non x86, the FIT format
should be used, as it is the defacto standard on ARM.
Due to greater complexity of FIT it is not converted to simple ELF format.

Add support for autodecting FIT payloads and add them as new CBFS_TYPE 'fit'.
The payload is included as is, with no special header.
The code can determine the type at runtime using the CBFS_TYPE field.
Support for parsing FIT payloads in coreboot is added in a follow on
commit.
Compression of FIT payloads is not supported, as the FIT sections might be
compressed itself.

Starting at this point a CBFS payload/ can be either of type FIT or SELF.

Tested on Cavium SoC.

99f4683adf Introduce bootblock self-decompression
Masked ROMs are the silent killers of boot speed on devices without
memory-mapped SPI flash. They often contain awfully slow SPI drivers
(presumably bit-banged) that take hundreds of milliseconds to load our
bootblock, and every extra kilobyte of bootblock size has a hugely
disproportionate impact on boot speed. The coreboot timestamps can never
show that component, but it impacts our users all the same.

This patch tries to alleviate that issue a bit by allowing us to
compress the bootblock with LZ4, which can cut its size down to nearly
half. Of course, masked ROMs usually don't come with decompression
algorithms built in, so we need to introduce a little decompression stub
that can decompress the rest of the bootblock. This is done by creating
a new "decompressor" stage which runs before the bootblock, but includes
the compressed bootblock code in its data section. It needs to be as
small as possible to get a real benefit from this approach, which means
no device drivers, no console output, no exception handling, etc.
Besides the decompression algorithm itself we only include the timer
driver so that we can measure the boot speed impact of decompression. On
ARM and ARM64 systems, we also need to give SoC code a chance to
initialize the MMU, since running decompression without MMU is
prohibitively slow on these architectures.

This feature is implemented for ARM and ARM64 architectures for now,
although most of it is architecture-independent and it should be
relatively simple to port to other platforms where a masked ROM loads
the bootblock into SRAM. It is also supposed to be a clean starting
point from which later optimizations can hopefully cut down the
decompression stub size (currently ~4K on RK3399) a bit more.

NOTE: Bootblock compression is not for everyone. Possible side effects
include trying to run LZ4 on CPUs that come out of reset extremely
underclocked or enabling this too early in SoC bring-up and getting
frustrated trying to find issues in an undebuggable environment. Ask
your SoC vendor if bootblock compression is right for you.

96ed92d49d boardid: Add helpers to read sku_id strapping into coreboot tables
On many recent Chrome OS boards, the desire to unite more configurations
under the same image has led to the need of a "SKU ID" that identifies
different configurations of the same board (e.g. with certain optional
components stuffed or not stuffed, or replaced with a comparable
component). This is markedly different from the existing "board ID",
because that is reserved to count "revisions" -- changes made to the
same configuration over time during the development process. This patch
adds support to have a mainboard define this SKU ID and pass it through
the coreboot table like we already have for board IDs.

Merge the different coreboot table strapping ID structures into one
because they're really just all the same, and I want to add more. Make
the signature of the board_id() function return a uint32_t because
that's also what goes in the coreboot table. Add a printk to the generic
code handling strapping IDs in ramstage so that not every individual
mainboard implementation needs its own print. (In turn, remove one such
print from fsp1_1 code because it's in the way of my next patch.)
