When accessing register with multiple bit fields, the common approach is
to use clrsetbits_le32, for example:
clrsetbits(®, (1 << 0) | (0x3 << 1) | (0x7 << 10),
(1 << 0) | (0x1 << 1) | (0x5 << 10));
This hard to maintain because we have to calculate the mask values
manually, make sure the duplicated shift (offset) was set correctly.
And it may be even worse if the value to set will be based on some
runtime values (that many developers will do a if-block with two very
similar argument list), and leaving lots of magic numbers.
We want to encourage developers always giving field names, and have a
better way of setting fields. The proposed utility macros are:
DEFINE_BITFIELD(name, high_bit, low_bit)
EXTRACT_BITFIELD(value, name)
WRITE32_BITFIELDS(addr, name, value, [name2, value2, ...])
READ32_BITFIELD(addr, name)
Where a developer can easily convert from data sheet like
BITS NAME
26:24 SEC_VIO
Into a declaration
DEFINE_BITFIELD(SEC_VIO, 26, 24)
Then, a simple call can set the field as:
WRITE32_BITFIELDS(®, SEC_VIO, 2);
That is much easier to understand than
clrsetbits_le32(®, 0x7 << 24, 0x2 << 24);
And to extract the value:
READ32_BITFIELD(®, SEC_VIO)
That is equivalent to:
(read32(®) & 0x3) >> 24

Many peripheral drivers across different SoCs regularly face the same
task of piping a transfer buffer into (or reading it out of) a 32-bit
FIFO register. Sometimes it's just one register, sometimes a whole array
of registers. Sometimes you actually transfer 4 bytes per register
read/write, sometimes only 2 (or even 1). Sometimes writes need to be
prefixed with one or two command bytes which makes the actual payload
buffer "misaligned" in relation to the FIFO and requires a bunch of
tricky bit packing logic to get right. Most of the times transfer
lengths are not guaranteed to be divisible by 4, which also requires a
bunch of logic to treat the potential unaligned end of the transfer
correctly.
We have a dozen different implementations of this same pattern across
coreboot. This patch introduces a new family of helper functions that
aims to solve all these use cases once and for all (*fingers crossed*).

The effect of pointer aliasing on writes is that any data on CPU
registers that has been resolved from (non-const and non-volatile)
memory objects has to be discarded and resolved. In other words, the
compiler assumes that a pointer that does not have an absolute value
at build-time, and is of type 'void *' or 'char *', may write over
any memory object.
Using a unique datatype for MMIO writes makes the pointer to _not_
qualify for pointer aliasing with any other objects in memory. This
avoid constantly resolving the PCI MMCONF address, which is a derived
value from a 'struct device *'.

Semantics of dev_find_slot() are ill in the sense that
it only works after device enumeration has completed in
ramstage. Plan is to declare it as deprecated.
Introduce pcidev_on_root() and pcidev_path_on_root()
functions to replace cases where this was called with
static argument bus == 0. New implementation only walks
the root bus of the PCI tree, while old one walked
the entire linked list of devices.
Introduce pcidev_path_behind() to replace cases where
argument bus != 0. The required parent node is typically
one of the PCIe root functions that you locate using
pcidev_on_root() above.
New forms are safe to use with early devicetree and
before PCI bus numbers have been assigned.

Add the feature for bootblock, verstage and postcar, it

The H81 chipset is the only non-LP Lynx Point chipset with 6 PCIe root
ports, all others have 8 [1]. The existing PCIe code assumed that all
non-LP chipsets had 8 root ports, which meant that port 6 would not be
considered the last root port on H81, so `root_port_commit_config()`
would not run. Ultimately, while PCIe still worked on H81, all the root
ports would remain enabled, even if disabled in the devicetree.
Also, remove `PCI_DEVICE_ID_INTEL_LYNXPOINT_MOB_DESK_{MIN,MAX}`, as they
are unused, and the MAX constant is incorrect.
Interestingly, this fixes an issue where GRUB is unable to halt the
system.
Tested on an ASRock H81M-HDS. The root ports disabled in the devicetree
do indeed end up disabled.

This commit adds support for describing USB ports in devicetree.cb.
It allows a USB port location to be described in the tree with
configuration information, and ACPI code to be generated that
provides this information to the OS.
A new scan_usb_bus() is added that will scan bridges for devices so
a tree of ports and hubs can be created.
The device address is computed with a 'port type' and a 'port id'
which is flexible for SOC to handle depending on their specific USB
setup and allows USB2 and USB3 ports to be described separately.

If one wants to implement both i2c_bus.h and i2c_simple.h APIs
the compilation unit needs to be guarded or coordinated carefully
with different compilation units. Instead, name the i2c_bus
functions with _dev such that it indicates that they operate on
struct device. One other change to allow i2c_bus.h to be built in
non-ramstage environments is to ensure DEVTREE_CONST is used for
the dev field in struct bus.

This change adds a common block driver for HDA that provides a

This was tested on a board with an HDA codec to ensure that it
properly detected it and ran the codec init steps.

As noted on linux-pci, we have a weird way to handling "value" and
"scale" fields that are supposed to contain numerical values: we encode
them as a bitfield.
Instead define the two fields (offset and mask) and use numbers.
Another issue, not fixed in this CL, is that we write hard-coded values
while these fields really need to contain the max() of acceptable delays
of the downstream devices. That way the controller can decide whether or
not to enter a deeper power management state. It's noted as a TODO.
